012.01 We did not know Obidos to be so beautiful. We actually saw it from the highway (from Nazare, direction Lisbon) and thought, "wow, we should go there!"
012.02 Unlike Valenca, this fortress city is even more romantic. The streets are more narrow and have no asphalt, only stones and all the houses are white, but with distinct coloured lines. Here are also some Wisteria flowers.
012.03 And almost at every corner you wish to stop and get a photo.
012.04 Another stony alley and a hidden Azulejos
012.05 White, Grey, Green and Blue Heaven.
012.06 Spider house. We stood here a while to see if he or she comes out. Did not...
012.07 Senhor Jesus da Pedra sanctuary seen from the walls of Obidos.
012.08 The castle, rebuilt in 1148 by Afonso Henriques. The houses to the left are not real and look like props for a movie. we did other pictures also, but there were so many cars parked there that it was impossible to get a clean shot (that day).
012.09 This is our third favourite photo made in Obidos. This is inside a church (not the only one) that has books everywhere. Sadly they did not really have books in English so we bought nothing, but donated a few euros for those in need.
012.10 This is our favourite photo from this trip. It was made just outside the walls. We actually stood on that bench and bathed in the sun and the beautiful flowers. In front are the train tracks but is hard to spot the train because of all the bushes and trees. While seems idyllic, in reality, being visited every second by bees and wasps is a bit unnerving.
012.11 The gates to the outside garden. To the left is the bench. Rua de Talhada.
012.11 We continued on the Castelo road, and sadly many other places were closed. To the right, from this location, there is a very famous Sardine museum that is a must!
012.12 View over Obidos, the Castle and churches  (Sao Tiago in front and Santa Maria on the right)
012.13 A glimpse through the wall.
012.14 Cute wall and cute door.
012.15 This our second favourite photo from this trip, Livraria da Adega, Vila Literária de Óbidos. This is opened only Friday, Weekend and Monday and it looks wow!
012.16 Taberna O Lidador and beutiful tree.
As probably observed (and we missed the Sardines Museum) Obidos is really beautiful. For those who drive on the highway, this will be a perfect few hours stop, maybe half a day if the restaurant is included.
We loved the fact that there were books everywhere and that the streets were clean and with clean white walls, with just a hint of colour. It is so easy to imagine yourself being in another era, perhaps in different clothes with different worries.
In our opinion, if one can, one must visit Obidos. It truly is beautiful and in some way preparatory for what is to come in Lisbon and Sintra.
For the 3D picture we thought to include the abundance of books and to put them in a church like environment, we added the organ, even if this one was not present.
Thank you for reading this article and hope you enjoyed it. Hope to see you in the next one,
MiDe.

From the outside, this fortress looks like any other from Portugal that but it is inside where find all that makes this place special.
